I think song parodies are one of the best ways to get a person's attention. First of all, if the writer uses the tune to a well-known or catchy song, it will grab the audience's attention right away. Once the audience is listening, they are going to tune into the words, and then realize that the lyrics are not what they expected! Now you've gotten them listening to every single word the writer is saying....and thus whatever message the writer wanted to get out is out!
Song parodies make me laugh, mainly because the ones that I have listened to are from Weird Al Yankovic or from Mad TV. Both Weird Al and Mad TV have a very interesting way of making fun of things: Weird Al just sings about something silly (Like a Surgeon, Amish Paradise), while Mad TV likes to poke fun at pop culture and politics.
It's hard to choose a favorite song parody out of the ones that are already...

The following is an article which talks about examples of parody. I hope you walk away feeling more informed about the many examples of parody. May you have a happy reading!
I think that Weird Al is a great success story for song parodies because he's made some that are even more famous than the originals. "White and Nerdy" seems to come up just as frequently as the original, Chamillionaire's "Ridin' Dirty". The parodies seem to take whatever makes the original song cool and insult it and twist it around until its just as catchy as the first.
Most people already recognize the first song, so its just a matter of getting used to some of the lyrical differences and the songs seem to be hits. I enjoy song parodies a great deal because I think that much of today's popular music is rather poor in taste and deserves to be made fun of. Rap songs seem to be the easiest to parody. This may be because the beats are somewhat simple and often always can be replicated with the use of a synthesizer, the "singing" is more of speaking and can be much more easily created by the average...

Song parodies were just about all I listened to in middle school. Bob Rivers, Weird Al, I loved all of them, learned to sing them from heart, and integrated them into other things I did. They had the great melodies of the pop songs of the day, and the lyrics were funny, they were perfect for adding a small smile to an otherwise unpleasant middle school experience.
My favorite was Bob Rivers, though I often didn't understand the things he wrote about. Still, his songs about Star Wars always made me happy, and even today I still remember many of the lyrics. The complicated referential humor of "The Phantom Medley" appealed to the part of me that liked to comb through the song looking for things I had missed, and the lyrics referred to my favorite movie of the moment.
As perfect as they are for middle schoolers, there is a point when enough becomes enough, and that was passed...

I love funny song parodies. I used to listen to Weird Al all the time, and would sing the words while I was riding in cars with my parents (and couldn't sing the actual words). My favorite Weird Al song would have to be "Amish Paradise", which is a parody of "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio. I also love to write. I host a small writing group at my house, and we occasionally meet at coffee shops. One writing group we all wrote a story about meeting Jack Bauer in a cave and how he and Chuck Norris protected us from large brown bears (and a medium size brown bear). So, one night at writing group at the coffee shop, we decided to write a song parody. It was to the tune of "Yesterday". I can't remember how the entire thing went, but it started like this: "Large brown bears you don't really have to be so scared. Just remember always come prepared, then you won't die from large brown bears. Suddenly, there's a brown bear chasing after me! Where he came from I just couldn't see, maybe I should climb a tree. Why'd he follow me? I don't know, I...

I LOVE funny song parodies. I think it takes real comic talent to be able to pull one off properly. I have had many favorites over the years, both done by professional comedians and by radio station morning shows. My current favorite has to be "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al. I have followed his entire career, as he got started when I was just a kid. I love humor in any form and laughing is a great release. Funny song parodies make me laugh almost every time. I think what makes song parodies so funny, is that they sound almost identical to the song they are mocking. They sound serious, but then, when you really listen to the lyrics, they are the exact opposite! That surprise is what makes them work!
I remember when I was in college, there was a popular rap song that went "all I wanna do is zoom a zoom zoom and a boom boom" (sorry, I can not remember...
